We get lots of questions here at Yeo Valley. So many, in fact, that we thought it might be handy to put the ones we hear most often, all in one place. And that place is here.
Yeo Valley (Holt Farm) is a working farm and we ask that you take care when visiting, keep to the footpaths as shown by your guide, and be mindful of farm machinery and animals. Please close all gates.
How is organic dairy better than conventional?
A study released in the British Journal of Nutrition has shown that organic milk contains higher levels of a number of nutrients than non-organic milk. This is because organic cows spend more time grazing outdoors on lush, nitrogen-rich pastures. There are around 50% more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids in organic milk than conventionally produced products and slightly higher concentrations of iron, Vitamin E and some carotenoids. Organic milk and dairy also contains 40% more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is linked to a range of health benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and obesity, so going organic can boost the nutritional pay-off from including dairy in your diet.
How can you be sure that everything you make is organic?
All of our products are made with organic ingredients and are certified by the Soil Association.
Being organic has never been more important to us, which is why we support organic British dairy farming. We support dozens of British family farms by buying their milk through The Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative (OMSCo), and using it – in addition to milk from our own herd – for all the tasty things we make.

Are all your ingredients British?
We are proud supporters of buying British wherever possible, but unfortunately the UK doesn’t have the climate to grow all our ingredients all year round, so we have to look abroad for some things.
All of the milk used to make our products comes from British dairy farms.
Are your recipes completely natural?
We don’t add any preservatives or nasties to the things we make – they’re how nature intended!
How can I find out about all the ingredients in the things you make?
Just check on the side of the packaging of your product and you’ll find a full list of ingredients, or find the product you want on our website and a full list of ingredients will be there.
If there’s anything that you can’t find, please let us know.
