Yeo Valley Organic dairy products

FAQs

We get lots of questions here at Yeo Valley. So many, in fact, that we thought it might be handy to put the ones we hear most often, all in one place. And that place is here.

Products FAQs

  • Organic Dairy
    • How is organic dairy better than conventional?

A study released in the British Journal of Nutrition has shown that organic milk contains higher levels of a number of nutrients than non-organic milk. This is because organic cows spend more time grazing outdoors on lush, nitrogen-rich pastures. There are around 50% more beneficial omega-3 fatty acids in organic milk than conventionally produced products and slightly higher concentrations of iron, Vitamin E and some carotenoids. Organic milk and dairy also contains 40% more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which is linked to a range of health benefits including reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and obesity, so going organic can boost the nutritional pay-off from including dairy in your diet.

    • How can you be sure that everything you make is organic?

All of our products are made with organic ingredients and are certified by the Soil Association.

Being organic has never been more important to us, which is why we support organic British dairy farming. We support dozens of British family farms by buying their milk through The Organic Milk Suppliers Cooperative (OMSCo), and using it – in addition to milk from our own herd – for all the tasty things we make.

    • Can I order a reusable lid?

Yeo Valley Organic reusable lids are now out of stock. We do not have any reusable lids to post out and we don’t currently have any plans to get anymore lids in stock. We initially had them on sale for a three month period, we were one of the few brands that offered an alternative for a limited time.

By removing ‘single use plastic’ such as the clip lid, together we will remove a huge 145 tonnes of plastic a year – that’s the equivalent of 188 Friesian cows, 24 African elephants or 17 tractors.

We trialled the removal of clip lids on our Greek Style yogurt pots between 2021 and 2022, prior to this we ran an online survey and the results showed overwhelming support for us to remove the clip lids from the pots. We began communicating the change to our customers from October 2022, before the lids were removed at the end of December.

If you’re wanting to pop a cover on your pot, we’d recommend using reusable bee’s wax wraps and best to store your pots at the back of the fridge, where the temperature remains more consistent for longer storage.

Please note, because of the size of the pots, our Super Thick and 950g tubs will keep their plastic tops.

    • I've got a great idea for a new flavour. How do I tell you about it?

Just pop us an email to hello@yeovalley.co.uk and we’ll make sure the right person gets it.

    • Do you provide samples?

As all of our products are either chilled or frozen, sadly we can’t send any samples out.

    • Where do you source your energy from?

Find out more about how we generate and buy renewable energy to make our delicious organic products here.
