Tips for a Fantastic Festive Party

Friday 6th December 2019

We’ve all had the pre-festive party panic – you’ve invited everyone round but how can you really make it a night to remember? We’ve come up with a few ways to make sure yule have a great time whilst still putting nature first this Christmas!

1.This first one’s a cracker…  it’s literally making your own crackers! All you need is:

*Card and cracker snap (we found this recyclable patterned card in a local craft shop and the snaps are widely available)

*Short lengths of ribbon or string

*Jokes (Who’s Rudolph’s favourite pop star? Beyon-sleigh!)

*A little gift (We love small packets of seeds for things like this)

You can make them any size you like (ours are 30cm long) and we think it’s best to use recyclable card so the cracker holds it’s shape but if you do want to use paper instead, you can pop an old cardboard tube in the middle to keep everything in place.

You can find templates on line – we used this one – cut round and fold before cutting out the diamond -shapes that will allow you to roll the cracker into shape. Don’t forget to pop your joke and gift in before finishing your cracker and secure the end of the snap with paper tape to hold it in place.

2.Next, you’ll want to prep your menu.

We’ve got loads of ideas in the ‘Festive Winners’ category over on our recipe page, like this amazing new way to combine the nations favourite food to hate with the other nations favourite food to hate – Brussel sprouts with Marmite butter!

  • I love the thought of creating and making instead of buying ready made.. Finding seeds or even corms in my cracker would prompt me to plant instantly.
