Yoxter Farm

Up at the top of the valley is Yoxter Farm. We first bought land here to plant crops for our cows’ feed, but then the farm buildings came up for sale too, so we put in another dairy.

Together, Yoxter and Holt Farms keep a herd of 420 British Friesians on almost 700 acres, and we grow crops across 300 acres.

We also have 50 acres that we manage purely as habitat for wildlife – like voles, skylarks and wildflowers. We let our field margins grow extra wide to give owls a supper superhighway, and encourage them further into the Mendips. We’ve even put in owl boxes in case they’d like to stay a bit longer.
