Fighting Food Waste with Too Good To Go

Thursday 16th December 2021

As an organic food brand we are conscious of the role we play in reducing our waste, especially when it comes to food.

Did you know, roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year gets lost or wasted? And as a nation we waste 10.2 million tons of edible food each year!

Food waste is clearly a huge issue which has devastating impact on the planet and communities, which is how Too Good To Go was born.

Too Good To Go is an app that aims to reduce food waste in local communities, by connecting businesses to consumers. Consumers can buy surplus food from businesses for a reduced fee, ensuring less food is thrown away at the end of the day.

The way it works, is that local businesses list ‘Magic Bags’ on the app which users can reserve and collect at the end of the day. Each of these bags are filled with surprise goodies, that are still good to eat but just didn’t get sold throughout the day.

So far, they have helped save over 90 million meals from going to waste across the world since 2016!

The Yeo Valley Café is working on lots of ways to reduce waste so we’re really happy that you can now rescue unsold food from our café using the Too Good To Go app!

For every ‘Magic Bag’ sold we’re saving 2.5kg of CO2 – the equivalent of charging 320 smartphones!

Download the Too Good To Go app today and join the fight against food waste, available on App Store and Google Play.

  • can’t find on the website anything about the reusable lid, as mentioned on my recent lemon yoghurt pot
